Frustrated with your Roku remote not pairing?
Have you tried everything to fix it without success? Don’t worry—you’ve landed in the right place! In this guide, I’ll share some simple and effective tips to help you resolve Roku remote pairing or functionality issues.
If your Roku remote isn’t working with your Roku stick or Roku device, even after inserting new batteries, the most likely problem is a pairing issue.
This guide provides golden tips to resolve cases where your Roku remote isn’t paired with your Roku stick, device, or inbuilt Roku TV.
How to fix Roku remote not Pairing
Hard reset Roku remote
Hard resetting your Roku remote is the first tip I recommend to resolve pairing issues. So, how can you hard reset the Roku remote?
To perform a hard reset on the Roku remote:
Unplug the Roku device’s power cord from the power outlet for about 50 seconds.
Reconnect the power cord to the outlet.
Turn on the Roku device.
Once the device powers on, your Roku remote should automatically re-pair with the Roku stick.
If there are any minor issues affecting your Roku remote, they can often be resolved by re-pairing the Roku remote to the Roku stick. Once re-paired, the remote should start working again. This is similar to turning off and restarting a smartphone when experiencing signal or network issues.
The concept is simple: when you disconnect the Roku stick from the power outlet for a few seconds, then reconnect it and restart the device, the Roku remote begins re-pairing and registers with the Roku device.
At the same time, it’s a good idea to remove the batteries from the remote and reinsert them while the Roku stick is disconnected. This increases the chances of resolving the issue.
Use the Roku Remote pairing button to re-pair the remote
The next solution to resolve pairing or functionality issues with the Roku remote is to repair it using the dedicated pairing button on the original remote.
The pairing button on the Roku remote is located inside the battery compartment. To find it, simply open the battery compartment cover on the remote. You’ll see a small button inside.
Press and hold this button for about 5 seconds until the LED light at the top back of the remote starts blinking. The blinking light indicates that the remote is in pairing mode.
Next, turn on the Roku stick device and place the remote close to it. The remote will automatically pair with the device and start working.
If your Roku remote is very old, it might not have a pairing button. However, most modern Roku remotes now include this feature. If your remote doesn’t have a pairing button, don’t worry—try following tips 1 and 3.
Manually Pairing the Remote with a Roku Device
If none of the above tips work for pairing your Roku remote with the Roku stick, you can try this option. Use the settings menu to manually pair the remote. You can navigate the menu using the buttons on your smart TV.
When the Roku interface appears on the screen, go to “Settings,” then select “Remotes & Devices.” Next, choose “Pair a new remote.” Your Roku device will start searching for the new remote. Insert the batteries into your Roku remote, and it will automatically pair with the device and begin working.
How to Control Your Roku Device Without the Original Remote
If your original remote is damaged, you can use your Android or iOS smartphone to control the Roku device. Simply download the Roku app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and install it on your phone. Then, turn on WiFi and connect to the same network as your Roku. The app will automatically pair with the Roku device, allowing you to control it until you get a replacement remote.
Buy original remote
If you have a universal remote at home that works with Roku, you can use it to control your Roku device.
Alternatively, you can purchase an original Roku remote and follow any of the pairing procedures I described above to set it up.
If the cost of the original remote is not affordable, there are many Roku-supported universal remotes available for under $10. You can use these universal remotes with your Roku devices. The instructions for pairing the Roku universal remote with the device will be included in the product. Some universal remotes don’t require programming—simply insert the batteries and use the remote.
In this post, I am going through the various fix procedures on the Fios remote not working issue. There are a lot of issues Fios users are arising with Fios remote controls like
Fios remote Red light blinking
The Fios remote volume button not working
Fios voice remote not working
Fios remote won’t change channels
Fios Remote control not turn on/Turn off Tv
Fios remote not responding
One of the common issues with FiOS remote controls is the remote not working and blinking red. Many FiOS users have reported this problem. In this article, I’ll explain the reasons behind these issues and provide solutions to fix them. Additionally, I’ll cover other common FiOS remote control problems, such as the volume button or power button not working.
Is Verizon Fios Remote not working? Common Issues and Fixes
Fix the RED light blinking issue
Many FiOS users report that their remote control blinks a red light up to five times. The most common cause of this issue is low battery charge. When the battery level is too low, the red light blinking occurs on the FiOS remote. The only solution to fix this problem is to replace the remote’s batteries.
If you’re using AA rechargeable batteries, ensure they are fully charged. Rechargeable batteries with a charge level below 20% often cause the red light blinking issue.
To avoid this problem, consider using higher-quality rechargeable batteries for your FiOS remote. Many users experience this issue even when the battery charge is still above 30%. Simply replace the old batteries with fresh ones, and the red light blinking issue should be resolved.
FiOS Remote Volume not working
There are many reasons why the FiOS remote volume may not be working. You’ll need to troubleshoot and make a few adjustments to resolve the issue. I’ve personally experienced this problem with the FiOS remote control and went through a series of steps to see if they helped. After contacting FiOS support, they suggested some tweaks that can solve volume issues with the remote control.
What to do when Fios remote volume not working?
The first thing to check when the FiOS remote volume is not working is whether all the other buttons on your remote are functioning properly. If the other buttons are working fine, there are two possible reasons for the volume button issue:
The volume button on your FiOS remote may be physically damaged.
Your FiOS remote may not be paired correctly with your device.
How to reset the FIOS remote
Reset your FiOS remote control by unpairing it and then pairing it again carefully. Before resetting the remote, try removing the batteries and then reinserting them. If that doesn’t work, unpair the remote and pair it again.
Fix Hardware damage
Check if the volume up and down buttons on your FiOS remote are working properly. If only one of them is functioning, there’s a high chance of physical damage, typically due to an issue with the button mat. This problem arises when the circuit board and button mat lose conductivity, preventing proper communication between them.
To fix this, you’ll need to address both the circuit board and the button mat. Start by removing the battery from the remote. Carefully open the back and front panels, then gently separate the button mat from the circuit board. Clean the circuit board and button mat with a soft brush to remove dust buildup.
Focus on cleaning the area around the volume button on the circuit board and apply electric paint to the underside of the button mat where the volume button is located. After the paint dries, carefully reassemble the remote, ensuring all buttons are aligned with the button mat. Test the volume button, and the issue should be resolved.
Program Fios Remote With Right Remote Code
If you’re using a universal remote from a different brand that supports FiOS, you’ll need to program it with the correct FiOS remote code. In some rare cases, when programming a FiOS universal remote, certain functions may not work properly. To resolve this, remove the battery from the remote, reinsert it, and then program the remote with a different code that you haven’t tried before. There are usually multiple codes available for your universal remote.
Check if Your Fios TV or STB working Fine
Before troubleshooting, make sure your FiOS set-top box is working properly. Also, ensure that you’re using the FiOS remote within its maximum distance range. Most remote controls, except for advanced smart remotes, typically work within a range of up to 12 meters. Test the remote within this distance from your FiOS set-top box to ensure proper functionality.
Check all connections on the device
Check all the connections on your FiOS devices, such as the TV, set-top box, and any other connected devices, to ensure they are secure. It’s a good idea to unplug and reconnect them to avoid any connection-related issues. This may help resolve the volume issue with your FiOS remote.
Why is Fios remote not changing channels?
Another serious issue with the FiOS remote control is related to its functionality with your TV, such as not changing channels, not turning the TV on or off, and similar problems. To fix this, check the battery in the remote. If the battery is running low, the FiOS remote won’t work properly and may fail to change channels, turn the TV on or off, and more.
Fios Voice Remote Not working or unresponsive
If you’re using a voice-activated FiOS remote control, the FiOS voice feature may be malfunctioning. Many FiOS users have reported issues with the voice remote not working. The most common solution to fix this is to reset the FiOS voice remote.
How to reset Fios voice remote
Press menu on your Fios stb
Then go to settings
select remote models on your tv screen
then select the program voice option and then select the reset option and select ok and wait till the reset process completes
Now test your Fios voice remote control whether it is working or not.
If none of the above-mentioned steps have fixed issues like the FiOS remote volume button problem, red light blinking, or non-responsiveness, you can replace your FiOS remote with the original FiOS remote or any other top FiOS universal remote. There are various FiOS replacement remotes available that do not require any programming.
In this post, I will show you how to program the Inteset universal remote control to work with your devices. As one of the best 4-in-1 universal remotes, the Inteset can control up to four devices by programming it with the corresponding device codes. Programming the Inteset universal remote requires the correct remote code for each device. You will need to program the Inteset remote after finding the matching codes.
You can find the Inteset remote code for programming your remote on their official website or in the code booklet included with the universal remote. Although the programming methods are similar to other universal remotes, the Inteset remote has a few unique buttons that are used during programming. This is the only small difference.
Don’t worry! I’m here to help you program your 4-in-1 Inteset universal remote to devices like your TV, DVD player, Apple TV, and more. While the programming methods are the same, the codes vary for each device.
There are different models of Inteset universal remotes, but you can follow the steps below to program any model. The Inteset universal remote is compatible with a wide range of TVs, A/V devices, and streaming players like Kodi, Apple TV, and ROKU. Plus, it features dedicated buttons for these devices.
How To program Inteset Universal remote
First of all, you need to find the Inteset universal remote device setup code for your device brand. You can easily find the remote code from their official code library.
Go to their official code lookup page to find the device setup code.
You can find remote codes for Inteset universal remote models, such as Int-422-3, Int-422-2, Int-422-1, Int-422, and more. Start by selecting the device type from the drop-down menu. Once you’ve selected the device type, another drop-down menu will appear where you can choose the manufacturer. After selecting the manufacturer, the Inteset universal remote device code, referred to as the ‘device setup code,’ will be displayed on the screen. Be sure to note it down for programming your remote.
Note down the codes for your device to program it with the Inteset universal remote. You may receive multiple codes, so be sure to write them all down. While one code is usually sufficient, having additional codes is helpful in case the first code results in partial programming.
Steps to Program Your Inteset Universal Remote:
Turn on the device you wish to program, such as a TV, DVD player, or streaming device.
Press the corresponding device button on the Inteset remote (e.g., press the “TV” button if you are programming a TV).
Press and hold the “SET” button until the red LED blinks twice, then release the “SET” button.
Enter the first setup code obtained from the official website using the number keys on the remote. The LED light will blink once for each key press.
If you enter the wrong code, the LED will blink twice. In this case, repeat steps 2–4 with another code.
Point the Inteset remote at your device and press the “Power” button.
If the device turns off, programming is complete.
If it doesn’t, try the next code from your list and repeat the process.
How to Program Inteset remote with code search method
If you don’t have a code for your device, you can use the auto code search method to program the Inteset universal remote.
Before proceeding with the steps, you’ll need to know the device group numbers to search for the appropriate code list.
Device group numbers
Use 0 when your device is a Cable box
Use 1 when your device is the TV
Use 2 for DVDs, Blue-ray players, and streaming devices
use 3 for audio equipment
Steps to Program Your Inteset Remote Using Auto Code Search:
Turn on the device you want to program (e.g., TV, DVD player, cable box).
Press the device type button on the remote (e.g., TV, DVD, Cable, etc.).
Press and hold the “SET” button until the red LED blinks twice, then release the button.
Enter 9 9 1 using the number keys; the LED will blink twice.
Press the device group number based on the device type:
0 for Cable Box
1 for TV
2 for DVD
Point the remote at the device and press the “Power” button. The Inteset remote will start sending a sequence of codes to your device.
If the device doesn’t respond, press the CH+ button repeatedly. Each press sends a new code to the device.
When your device turns off, it means the correct code has been found. Press the “SET” button to save the settings.
If your device is a streaming player, such as an Apple TV, Roku stick or box, or Kodi, you can quickly access streaming apps after programming the device. Simply press the dedicated keys on your Inteset universal remote control to jump directly to your favorite apps.
